I went here all the time in high school and loved it. I came back for the first time in maybe 20 years last weekend. I was afraid it wouldn't live up. It had changed a bit, scallion pancake is now scallion pie and it's been changed, the general gaus chicken is a bit less crispy, but I have to say, overall, I think it's still my favorite chinese place in MA, even considering it's the fairly obvious American Chinese Food menu. When I'm around Concord, I'll continue to come here to eat.
I decided to try this Chinese restaurant based on positive reviews and the promise of a lunch buffet. However, I was disappointed to find out that there was no buffet available. Instead, I went for one of their lunch specials. Unfortunately, the food was of poor quality and it seemed microwaved. The crab rangoons had curdled cheese inside and the beef teriyaki was extremely tough and dried out. Additionally, despite requesting white rice, I received pork fried rice instead. The only redeeming aspect was the possibility that the pork fried rice was freshly made. However, I was so unsatisfied with the overall experience that I ended up leaving 3/4 of the meal untouched. I will definitely not be returning to this restaurant.
Truly an end of an era, so sad to see this local gem go. I've spent many evenings with family drinking Mai tais and pinot grigio discussing life's ups and downs in a familiar friendly atmosphere with excellent moo shu pork and peking ravioli to boot. So sad to lose it :( Jack and family, thank you for everything!
Food generally was excellent but we were there for the Peking Duck. It the past it's been excellent but this time we were disappointed. The skin should be crispy and have a distinctive flavor but this time it was soft, bland, and greasy. We ordered 2 ducks for 4 people but there just wasn't enough meat and some of us came up short. Everything else we ordered was good. We'd go back again, but would pass on the Peking Duck.
This place used to be my favorite in all of Massachusetts, food used to be incredible. I’ve visited Chang Ann a couple of times per month for the last 6 years. Sadly, I don’t think I will ever go back. My parents are visiting and I wanted to take them to my favorite Chinese place. The waitress working tonight was the most unprofessional and rude waitress I’ve ever experienced in my life. Literally screaming at us. At one point, she refused to take our drink orders because “we had already ordered too many times” what does that even mean? We just wanted a couple of ginger ales to go along with our appetizers. I can’t even describe how insane this experience was. On top of that, the food was below average. Not sure what is happening here but I sure as heck won’t go back. You lost a loyal customer after embarrassing me in front of my family…
Thought I would give it another try. Still food was not that good. No rice is provided with each meal and for the smallest of containers they charge an additional 3.++ dollars. People working there appear rather unhappy. Was disappointed. They need a new cook who knows how to build flavour into the recipes. Very bland food. Hope they work to improve. Used to be great food.
The food was savory and nicely spiced, the atmosphere was calming and everyone who works there is super nice. It’s a great place to go with friends!
The best place... excellent service... good price... excellent food... 100% recommended
